Centre Supporting States/UTs exhibiting surge for containment and management of
COVID19

new cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
Centre is regularly holding high-level review meetings with
the states and UTs showing a surge in new daily cases. The Health Secretary is
also holding weekly review meetings as part of the Centre’s efforts to
continuously engage with the states and UTs reporting higher caseload of active
cases and those showing rise in daily new COVID19 cases.

teams to Maharashtra and
The Central Government has already deputed high-level teams
to Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab,
Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and
These teams interact with the State/UT authorities and get a
firsthand understanding of the challenges and issues being faced by them so as
to strengthen their ongoing activities and remove bottlenecks, if any.
Eight states are displaying an upward trajectory in daily new cases.
The cumulative tests conducted in the country have surpassed
22 crores (22,19,68,271). The national cumulative positivity rate currently
stands at 5.06%.
Eight States/UTs have weekly Positivity Rate more than the
National Average (2.29%).
More than 2.09 cr (2,09,89,010) vaccine doses have been
administered through 3,76,633 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am
today.
These include 69,85,911HCWs (1st dose), 35,47,548 HCWs (2nd dose),
66,09,537 FLWs (1st dose) and 2,13,559 FLWs (2nd Dose), 4,80,661 beneficiaries
aged more than 45 years with specific co-morbidities (1st Dose) and 31,51,794
beneficiaries aged more than 60 years.

More than 2.26 Cr COVID19 vaccine doses administered
Nearly 17 lakh vaccine doses given till 9 pm today; Highest in a single day
till now

The
cumulative number of COVID19 vaccine doses administered in the country has
crossed 2.26 Crore today.
The
countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out on 16th Jan
2021 and vaccination of the Frontline Workers (FLWs) started from 2nd Feb
2021.The next phase of COVID-19 vaccination has
commenced from 1st March 2021 for those who are over 60 years of age and for
people aged 45 and above with specified co-morbid conditions.
A
total of 2,26,85,598 vaccine
doses have been given, as
per the provisional report till 9 pm today.
These
include 70,41,584 HCWs who
have taken the 1st dose and 37,12,906 HCWs who
have taken the 2nd dose, 67,73,081 FLWs (1stdose), 3,13,835 FLWs (2nd dose), 41,85,274 beneficiaries more than 60 years
old and 6,58,918 beneficiaries
aged 45 and above with specific co-morbidities.

Total 16,96,588 vaccine doses were
given till 9 pm today, the fifty second day of
nationwide COVID19 vaccination. Out of which 14,30,954 beneficiaries were vaccinated for
1st dose and 2,65,634 HCWs and
FLWs received 2nd dose of vaccine as per the provisional report. Final reports
would be completed for the day by late tonight.

Welfare addressed a webinar organized by World Health Organization (WHO)
on the occasion of International Women's Day, here todayalong with Smt. Smriti
Zubin Irani, Union Minister of Women and Child Development and Shri. Ashwini
Kumar Choubey, Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Wishing
everybody on the International Women’s Day, Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “International
Women’s Day, celebrated across the world, gives us an opportunity to mark our
respect and gratitude towards womankind for the unparalleled contribution they
make in our lives”.
He
further said, “In India, we call our revered Motherland as Matribhumi, quite in consonance with the Indian
tradition which ordains high and respectable position for women in society. For

is magic. Today’s celebration is not about making our women stronger. Women are
already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.”

and apprising the role played by women scientists and women in the field of
