Active Caseload below 6 lakh for the sixth day
Recovery Rate crosses 92%

With a high number of COVID patients recovering every day
and the sustained fall in the mortality rate,
Presently the active cases comprise merely 6.42% of
the total positive cases of the country.
16 States & UTs have cases per million lower than the
national average.
The total recovered cases are more than 76.5 Lakhs (76,56,478) thereby enhancing the difference with respect to the active cases. In
another achievement, the national Recovery Rate has surpassed 92% (92.09%).
53,357 patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours
whereas the new confirmed cases stand at 46,253.
17 States/UTs have Recovery Rate more than the national
average.
The country’s testing capacities have expanded rapidly. The
cumulative tests are nearly 11.3 crore (11,29,98,959) today. 12,09,609 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
25 States/UTs have better tests per million than the
national average.
80% of the
new recovered cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs .
Kerala is leading with more than 8,000 single day
recoveries followed by Karnataka with more than 7,000 recoveries.
76% of the new confirmed cases are from 10 States and UTs.
Kerala and
514 case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours.Of these, nearly 80% are concentrated in ten States/UTs.
21 States and UTs have deaths per million lower than the
national average.

Cabinet approves the Memorandum of
Understanding between

The Union Cabinet chaired
by the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has
approved the signing of the Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) between
The MoU
covers the following areas of cooperation:
i.
Exchange and training of medical doctors and
other health professionals;
ii.
Assistance in development of human resources
and setting up of health care facilities;
iii.
Exchange of information regarding regulation of
pharmaceutical, medical devices and cosmetics;
iv.
Sharing expertise for vulnerability assessment
for health of citizens against climate risk and public health actions targeted
towards mitigation and adaptation;
v.
Sharing of expertise for facilitating climate resilient
infrastructure as well as providing support for development of 'Green
Healthcare' (climate resilient hospitals);
vi.
Promote mutual research in various relevant
areas; and
vii.
Any other area of cooperation as may be
mutually decided upon.
Each Party shall encourage the participation of the representatives of
their countries in round tables, seminars, symposia, workshops and conferences
on issues of cooperation, organized by the other Party's relevant bodies.

Cabinetapproves Memorandum of
Understanding between

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister, Shri
Narendra Modi has given its approval for signing a Memorandum of Understanding
(MoU) between the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), India
and the United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (UK
MHRA) on cooperation in the field of medical Product Regulation.
The MoU willhelp in establishing a framework for fruitful
cooperation and exchange of information between the Central Drugs Standard
Control Organization (CDSCO) and the United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare
Products Regulatory Agency (UKMHRA) of United Kingdom in matters relating to
Medical products regulation in line with their international responsibilities.
The main areas of cooperation between the two Regulatory Authorities include
the following:
a) Exchange of safety information, including
Pharmacovigilance where there is a particular safety concern related to the
other party. This includes safety concerns relating to medicines and medical
devices.
b) Participation in scientific and practical
conferences, symposia, seminars and fora organized by
c) Exchange of information and cooperation on Good
Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Good Manufacturing
Practices (GMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and Good Pharmacovigilance
Practices (GPvP).
d) Capacity building in mutually agreed areas.
e) Promote an understanding between the Parties of
each other's regulatory framework, requirements and processes; and to
facilitate future regulatory strengthening initiatives for both Parties.
f) Exchange of information on laws and regulations
regarding medicines and medical devices.
g) Information exchange to support efforts to control
unlicensed exports and imports.
h)
Coordination at the international fora.
It would facilitate better understanding of the regulatory
aspects between the two sides and could help in increased cooperation in the
field of medical products regulation and better coordination in international
fora.

preparedness and measures for ensuring COVID Appropriate Behaviour in Karnataka

Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of
Health & Family Welfare held a meeting through video conferencing to review
COVID-19 preparedness and measures for ensuring COVID Appropriate Behaviour
with Dr. K.Sudhakar, Health and Medical Education Minister, Karnataka and other
senior officials of the State Government, here today.
Expressing satisfaction over
Urging people across the country to follow
the clarion call of Hon. Prime Minister as part of the ‘Jan Andolan’, the
Union Health Minister urged people to follow COVID appropriatebehaviour. He
said, “ In the coming festival and winter season, the virus poses potential
threats. It becomes very important to follow COVID Appropriate Behaviour to cut
the transmission of virus. Whenever there is a laxity in following basic
precautionary measures, the country has suffered.”
Comparing the COVID trajectory of
Karnataka with that of the country, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, “Karnataka has the
second highest cumulative cases after
Dr. Harsh Vardhan expressed concerns over
the trajectory of the disease in Urban Bengaluru, Mysuru, Bellari, Dakshin
Kannada, Hassan and Belagavi which are the high case load districts in
Karnataka. DrVardhan also spoke with officials of the districts where the
positive cases are increasing and the Fatality rate is showing a rising trend.
He also applauded Karnataka for its high impetus on IEC activities. Union
Health Minister urged the State to adopt widescale and high visibility IEC
campaigns for adoption of COVID Appropriate Behaviour.
The health authorities of the State
apprised the Union Minister on the steps taken to contain COVID.The Union
Health Minister interacted with the Dy. Commissioners and DMs of the six
districts reporting high cases and higher mortality.The state is following 4
T’s of Tracing, Testing, Treatment&Technology to tackle COVID-19. Testing
has been increased from 10,000 tests per day in June to over 80,000 per day as
of now. Testing facilities have been made available in all the medical colleges
in the state. This has increased testing capacities manifold. More than 8
million tests have been done in the State so
Sh. Rajesh Bhushan, Union Health Secretary
underscored that the new cases and deaths in Karnataka have declined significantly
but still a lot needs to be done to bring the parameters to pre July
levels. The State should aim at bringing the positivity level to less
than 5%. The State needs to engage aggressively with all the stakeholders in
those districts which have fatality rate higher than the national average.
Dr S K Singh, Director NCDC made a
brief presentation on the current status of COVID19 in the State. He
highlighted the need for continued vigilance and adherence to Covid Appropriate
Behaviour.
Smt. Arti Ahuja, Addl. Secretary (Health),
Dr Sunil Kumar, DGHS, Shri Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary and other senior
officials were also present in the meeting. Other officials from the State
joined virtually.
