India on a steady trajectory of
dipping %Active Cases
Active caseload only 13.75% of Total Positive Cases
74% of the New Recovered Cases concentrated in 10 States/UTs
New Recoveries exceed the new Confirmed Cases in 25 States/UTs

Presently the active cases comprise merely 13.75% of the total positive cases of the country standing at 9,19,023.
The declining trend of the percentage active cases is
commensurately supported by rising percentage of recovered cases.
The total recovered cases stand at 56,62,490. The gap between Recovered cases and Active
cases has crossed 47 lakh (47,43,467).
With increasing number of recoveries, this gap is
continuously widening.
Higher number of recoveries has aided the national Recovery
Rate to further improve to 84.70%.
75,787 have recovered and discharged in the last 24
hours whereas the new confirmed cases stand at 61,267.
The new recoveries have exceeded the new confirmed cases in
25 States/UTs.
74% of the new recovered
cases are observed to be concentrated in 10 States/UTs viz. Maharashtra, Andhra
Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha,
61,267 new confirmed
cases were recorded in last 24 hours.
75% of the new cases are
from 10 States and UTs.
884 case fatalities
have been reported in the past 24 hours.
Of these, nearly
80% are concentrated in ten State/UTs of
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh,

The Health Secretary also mentioned that
there is a gradual decline in daily new cases being reported in the country. It
has been stated that daily positivity rate is declining when compared to the
previous week and that the new recoveries have exceeded the new cases reported
in recent days.
“Maximum recoveries were reported on 26 September with 93,420
recoveries in just 24 hours while maximum number of new cases were reported on
27 Sep with around 88,600 cases in a single day”, said Shri. Bhushan.
While speaking about the spread of
COVID-19 in the country he mentioned that, 10 States account for 77% of total
active cases of which three States viz.
Speaking about the fatality rate of the
country, he mentioned that 48% of total COVID-19 deaths in the country are
concentrated in 25 districts of 8 states, out of which 15 districts are in

which is conducive for spread of diseases such as influenza, we need to be
extra cautious. We have told all states to ensure effective implementation of
public health strategies in the fight against COVID-19”, he added.
He also said that a digital platform is
being built to track COVID-19 vaccine administration and movement, from
procurement to storage to distribution to individual beneficiaries and that
online training modules are being developed for vaccinators.
Secretary, AYUSH Ministry, Shri Vaidya
Rajesh Kotecha spoke about the ‘ ‘National Clinical Management Protocol’ based
on Ayurveda and Yoga for management of COVID-19, released by Health Minister
Dr. Harsh Vardhan today. He mentioned that the protocol has been brought out
considering the Ayurveda literature and clinical experience, empirical
evidences and biological plausibility and also emerging trends of ongoing
clinical studies.
He also insisted that the guidelines are to be used in
addition to following all COVID appropriate behaviour and Standard Advisory Protocol
and these are not a replacement for the same.
Shri Kotecha, spoke in detail about various preventive measures to fight
COVID-19. He stated about a few general measures like gargling with warm water
with turmeric and salt, steam inhalation, moderate physical exercises as
well as dietary measures like drinking AYUSH Kadha or Kwath once a day. “These are our traditional wisdom which we can use regularly”, he
stated. He also briefed about the usage of various ayurvedic medicines like Ashwagandha and Guduchi and its dosage to be followed for high risk as well as primary
contacts. He also explained about preclinical and clinical studies conducted while coming
up with the above mentioned medicinal recommendations
He insisted that the protocol based on Ayurveda and Yoga
for Management of COVID-19 should not lead to a false sense of security which
leads one to abandonment of COVID-appropriate behaviour.
While answering a query on Indian Council of Medical
Research’s study on Plasma Therapy, DG, ICMR Prof. (Dr.) Balram Bhargava
informed that the study has clearly established that there is no benefit of
plasma therapy in arresting mortality in moderate to severe cases of COVID-19. “Following a cue from it, we have developed horse serum, for which we
have got clearance for clinical trial”, he added.
In reply to a media query Health Secretary stated that the
Russian vaccine has an agreement with an Indian commercial entity which has
approached the Indian regulator for clinical trials and that the regulator has
given some suggestions which need to be incorporated by the entity.
In reply to another query regarding Insurance claim for frontline healthcare
workers, Health Secretary mentioned that Rs. 50 lakh each has been paid to
families of 95 frontline healthcare workers who had lost their lives to
COVID-19. He also stated that 176 claims are being processed and in addition to
these there are 79 claims which are yet to be received from various states

Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for Health & Family
Welfare today released National Clinical Management Protocol based on
Ayurveda and Yoga for management of COVID-19 in the virtual presence of Sh.
Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge). Dr. Rajiv
Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog and Dr. V. K. Paul, Member (Health), NITI
Aayog also joined virtually.
An Interdisciplinary Committee for integration of Ayurveda
and Yoga Interventions in the 'National Clinical Management Protocol:
COVID-19’, chaired by Dr V M Katoch, former Director General ICMR and composed
of a group of experts with domain knowledge had formulated the report and
submitted recommendations based on acceptable experimental and clinical data.
These findings, indicating potential benefits and safety of the medicines, were
presented before the National Task Force on COVID 19 and Joint Monitoring Group
and subsequently developed into the protocol on the recommendations of NITI
Aayog.
Based on their recommendations, the Ministry of AYUSH
constituted a National Task Force which, in consensus from expert committees
from All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Delhi, Institute of Post Graduate
Training and Research in Ayurved (IPGTRA), Jamnagar, and National Institute of
Ayurveda (NIA), Jaipur, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS),
Central Council for Research in Yoga and Naturopathy (CCRYN) and other national
research organizations, prepared the National Clinical Management Protocol
based on Ayurveda & Yoga for management of COVID-19.
Hailing the achievement on the part of Ministry of AYUSH
that the advisories for boosting the immunity of the people have become highly
popular, Dr. Harsh Vardhan noted, “Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji has
emphasized following AYUSH advisories for management of COVID-19 crisis. This
protocol dealing with preventive and prophylactic measures is a significant
step in not only in management of COVID but also in making traditional
knowledge relevant to solving problems of the modern time”. He expressed satisfaction with the inclusion of easily available and
common Ayurvedic herbs and formulations like Guduchi, Ashwagandha, AYUSH-64 in
treating mild and asymptomatic COVID cases.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan spoke of the role of Ayurveda in the
colonial struggle when Sh. Harvilas Sharda had compiled a section on Hindu
medicine to argue for
He detailed the efforts of the government in promotion of
AYUSH with ‘The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Bill, 2020’
and the bill to confer the status of Institute of National Importance on the Cluster
of Ayurveda Institutes at Jamnagar. “Their unanimous passage indicates the consensus in reviving
traditional systems of medicine,” he said.
Health Secretary Sh. Rajesh Bhushan, Secretary (AYUSH)
Vaidya Rajesh Katoch and other senior officials of AYUSH Ministry were also
present at the event.
