various States and Union Territories. In
India there are different religions, different castes, different languages and
different culture but all are united.
In India, Madurai
is very famous for Madurai Meenakshi Thirukalyanam i.e. Wedding Ceremony of
Goddess Meenakshi during April every year. Lakhs of people goes to temple to
pray Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Shiva at the time of marriage festival. Within one or two days of Madurai Meenakshi Thirukalyanam,
Lord Alagar visits Madurai belatedly to attend the marriage ceremony. This Alagar visit from Alagar Kovil to
Madurai is celebrated as Chitra Festival during April – May every year.

Lakhs of devotees assemble at Madurai to pray Lord Alagar’s arrival at Madurai and this visit is called Chitra Festival. The Madurai City will be very busy and full of joy during the Chitra Festival season.
Madurai is
called Temple City. The Madurai City is surrounded by streets and roads in
the Tamil Months’ name such as Aadi Veethi, Avani Veethi, Masi Veethi, Veli
Veethi etc. At the time of Meenakshi
Thirukalyanam Festival, the Chariot of Goddess Meenakshi will pass through all Masi Streets. The cord (made of coir) of
Chariot will enter in some streets for pulling the Chariot and such streets
were named as Vadambokki Streets. (Vadam means Cord or Coir and bokki means going). In Vadambokki Streets only Cord will go and Chariot will not go because the streets are very narrow..
During the
construction of Temple at Madurai, the Superintendents of labourers were
allowed to stay and live in some areas and such areas were called as Maistry Streets.
There is a palace called Thirumalai Naicker Mahal which was surrounded by water in ancient days. In Sourashtra language pani means water and thadi means crossing. The streets adjustant to Thirumalaicker Mahal will be reched by crossing the water and hence such streets were named as Panthadi Streets (1 to 8). The streets backside of Thirumalai Naicker Mahal are called Mahal Streets (1 to 9+. Each and every street or road is named with reasons based on Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple and Palace of Thirumalai Naicker. The road reaching the Thirumalai Naicker Mahal is called Palace Road. Only for the above reasons, the Madurai city is called Temple City.

In the famous
city of Madurai, there is a residential area called “Palaami Enclave” at present. Palaami Enclave consist 84 individual houses
and 80 apartment houses and totally 164 houses in a Gated Community.
The residents of
Palaami Enclave belong to various states and Union Territories and various
religions and various castes and they were speaking various languages and all
are united.
At present
Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is spreading all over the world and people are
suffering from illness from January 2020 onwards.

The residents of
Palaami Enclave have decided not to go outside the premises without reasons and
the Association has also issued Circular to the residents instructing them not to
allow outsiders for stay in Palaami Enclave in order to avoid spreading of Corona Virus
Disease. The Main Gate of the premises
is kept under surveillance and outsiders are not allowed inside the premises. Even the servant maids are also advised not to enter the premises until further orders.
Necessary
arrangements were aleready made for door delivery of Groceries, Medicines and other
essential items by the Association..
The Madurai
District Collector Thiru T.G.Vinay, I.A.S., and the Madurai Corporation
Commissioner Thiru S.Visagan, I.A.S., jointly visited the Palaami Enclave
premises in person as war-footing efforts to contain Coronavirus and step up
preventive measures on 4th April 2020.
The Collector
monitored the spraying and sprinkling of disinfectants in Palaami Enclave
premises. The District Collector also interacted with residents of Palaami
Enclave and stressed the importance of social distancing, staying at home and
avoiding crowds in public places in order to prevent the spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19).


The District
Collector of Madurai and the Commissioner of Madurai Corporation has inspected the mobile vegetables sales at the premises itself at moderate rates to the
residents of Palaami Enclave.
At the time of interaction with the Palaami Enclave Residents, Mr. Premkumar, Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Manoharan, Assistant Executive Engineer, Mr. Raj Kannan, Health Officer and Mr. Chithravel, Public Relations Officer were also present and accompanied the inspection.
